Mrs. Michalyn Ourso, Principal
Michalyn Ourso is the new Principal of Lake Elementary.
Ourso brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role. Before stepping into this leadership position, she served most recently as assistant principal at Prairieville Primary and as an instructional coach at Prairieville Primary. She also held the role of administrative intern at both Pecan Grove Primary and Prairieville Middle. Her teaching career includes significant contributions at Lake Elementary, Central Middle, and Dutchtown Middle schools.
With 16 years of educational experience in Ascension Parish, Ourso has a deep-rooted connection to the community. She is a proud former student of Lake Elementary and a graduate of St. Amant High School. She continued her academic journey at Louisiana State University (LSU) and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University.
She resides in St. Amant with her husband, Luke, and their three children: Owen, Ellyn, and Amelia. She is committed to fostering a positive and enriching environment for the students and staff at Lake Elementary.
“I am incredibly excited to return to Lake Elementary, a place that feels like home to me since I was once a student there. I look forward to achieving great things for the students and staff and am eager to get started. While I know I have big shoes to fill, I couldn't be more thrilled to embark on this journey,” said Ourso.
Mrs. Kadee Babin, Principal
Kadee Babin returns to a familiar school community as she takes on her new role as Assistant Principal of Lake Middle School. A lifelong product of Ascension Public Schools, Babin attended district schools throughout her childhood, including Lake Elementary from kindergarten through eighth grade. She now brings years of experience in classroom instruction, teacher leadership, and instructional coaching to her new position.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in english education from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master’s degree in school leadership from Nicholls State University.
Babin began her career with Ascension Public Schools at St. Amant High School, where she taught English I, II, III, and Business English. During her time there, she also served as a CTE Content Leader, dual enrollment teacher, New Teacher Mentor, and instructional coach. She was selected to serve as an administrative intern for the 2026-27 school year before being named assistant principal of Lake Middle.
"It's an honor to be the first Assistant Principal of Lake Middle School, officially. As a proud product, parent and part of Ascension parish schools, it's so deeply rooted in me that I believe in this work so strongly," said Babin.
Kadee is married to Ethan Babin, and they are the proud parents of two children, Beck and Daisy, who attend Ascension Public Schools.
